Karmapa means “the one who carries out buddha-activity” or “the embodiment of all the activities of the buddhas.” In the Tibetan tradition, great enlightened teachers are said to be able to consciously control their rebirth in order to continue their activity for the benefit of all sentient beings. His Holiness, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is the 17th incarnation of the Gyalwang Karmapa.

Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) is the North American seat of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa, head of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. It is our parent monastery and it features traditional teachings as transmitted by Kagyu Lineage meditation masters since the 10th century.
